Joe Biden's Mama was right!
Today as I was driving home listening to the radio I heard that Joe Biden's mother had passed away. The commentators spoke of how fond Joe was of his mother and then they played a clip of him at some National Democratic Convention relating a story from his childhood in which his mother gave him some great advice. Joe said that he had come home one day after having been beaten up by some bullies. His mother turned him around and told him to go back and "bloody their noses so you can walk down the street tomorrow.." He said that that was exactly what he did and that he carried that lesson with him always. The crowd went wild, cheering and clapping.
First off, that's great advice. I would tell my kids that. His Mom hit the nail on the head but I couldn't help thinking that that approach to bullies or enemies is the exact OPPOSITE of the en vogue belief (for the lefties anyway) that we should talk to our enemies, engage them unilaterally or multilaterally to find out what they want, why they did what they did, why they hate us, yada yada yada.
Perhaps its because they view America as the bully and not the victim, I don't know, but I would bet that everyone that cheered and clapped after hearing that story did NOT want us to go "bloody the noses" of Al Qaeda, Saddam, etc after 9/11. But, I could be wrong.
Anyway, that's my random thought for the day.
