EU inflation is at 2.3% and increasing

European Union inflation is at 2.3%, but the real story is rising inflation.  Last year it was 1.0%.  Inflationary trends tend to be longer time, so if I were a betting man, I would assume that inflation rates will continue to slowly rise for the next 5 years or so, peaking at 8%.

But keep in mind, this is not a prediction, just what I have observed in previous inflationary cycles.  If you assume the future will be like the past, that is where you get in trouble.

Via Eurostat:

Euro area annual inflation was 1.9% in November 20102, unchanged compared with October. A year earlier the rate was 0.5%. Monthly inflation was 0.1% in November 2010.

EU annual inflation was 2.3% in November 2010, unchanged compared with October. A year earlier the rate was 1.0%. Monthly inflation was 0.2% in November 2010.
