Unemployment claims marginally higher than expected

Jobless claims failed to extend their push lower in the latest data.
In the week ending Nov. 27, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 436K, an increase of 26K from the previous week's revised figure of 410K. The 4-week moving average was 431K, a decrease of 5,750 from the previous week's revised average of 436,750.

The latest data in this series are a bit disappointing yet fall far short of reversing prior improvement. Four-week averages in this report point to gains for tomorrow's monthly employment data. Markets are showing no significant initial reaction to the results.
